Mosspaw sighed, leaning back on his haunches and peering through the curtain of moss that sheltered the medicine cat den. His mentor was out, gathering herbs, and Mosspaw was left alone without a thing to do. He turned slightly, whiskers twitching. He really should be sleeping, but he couldn't; every time he closed his eyes, images of his mother dying burned across his vision. He frowned. Why now? It had been moons ago, and he hadn't had trouble sleeping because of her death since then. He shrugged to himself. Probably just - oh, wait. Right. This was his mother's death anniversary. He pulled a face. What a pleasant word for it.
He struggled to find his train of thought again, realizing he had gotten rather off-track. Ah, right. He could sneak out of Camp - there was barely a soul there, as most warriors had left to attend the gathering - but that would just earn him punishments. He yawned lazily, displaying a fine set of fangs that flashed ivory as the dull silvery moonlight hit them. He turned back into the den, ears pricked. The messy piles of herbs lay unorganized on their shelves, and he realized with a sigh he should sort them. He padded towards the shelves, and categorized them into separate neat stacks on the appropriate stone ledge.
Suddenly, he heard pawsteps. He turned, green eyes wide. "Hello?" he mewed quietly, ears pricked. There were no pawsteps now, just the forlorn hoot of an owl and rustling as a rabbit scurried across the moor. Still, he didn't relax. "Hello?" he repeated anxiously. "Who's there?"

"It's only me Mosspaw." Springstar sighed as she limped into the den. "Ow!"

OOC: I'm not sure what injuries she has - it might simply be a thorn in a paw, for all I know - but I'm just going to invent for now. I can modify the post later, once I know what the injuries are. :3
Mosspaw's emerald eyes shone with relief as the leader hobbled towards him. "Oh, hi," he greeted in a low voice, careful not to wake his Clanmates. Although they were in separate dens, you could never be too careful. "I thought you were... someone else." He smiled, whiskers twitching. Slowly, he took in her battered state. "Do you need help?" he asked, concerned. Not waiting for an answer, he moved to her side and inspected her injuries. "It looks like you have a broken paw, and you're bleeding heavily from gashes on your left flank and chest. Not to mention the multiple scratches and bruises." He looked at the she-cat with new worry. "What happened to you?"

OOC: oh no, that's fine
"I was attacked while I was out and about. I left Ravenpelt our deputy here to look after things while I was gone. Then it happened. I was attacked by these strange cats. It was a whole group of them and they outnumbered me, I didn't know what else to do. So, I just fought, but they overpowered me. They left me bleeding there with a broken paw. A warrior heard my cries and helped me back to camp."

Mosspaw nodded slowly, and glanced out of the den. Ravenpelt met his gaze, and Mosspaw suddenly felt very foolish for not noticing the wiry black tom that had been standing guard there all night. "Yes," he murmured. He inclined his head towards one of the snug moss nests, motioning for the leader to lay there, and then leaned over his leader inquiringly. "Here," he mewed, nudging a couple round, grayish pods towards Springstar's jaws. "Eat these. You won't feel the pain as much." He watched her chew them with satisfaction, and then gingerly picked up a handful of cobwebs in his paw. He began to plaster them on the more minor cuts, carefully placing more on the large injuries on his leader's flank and chest. They were soon stained crimson. Then he picked up a cluster of goldenrod, the large golden heads rustling as he chewed them up into a thick poultice. "Goldenrod, which heals wounds quickly,"he mumbled to himself, and then smeared it over the two large wounds gently.
"And marigold, to stop infection." He applied the pulpy paste to all of his leader's injuries - the large ones and the minor ones - and then glanced around, and then muttered, "And you'll want Comfrey, for the broken bone." He picked up a few stems of the pink flowering plant, and deftly ripped the thick, bulbous roots off with his teeth. He carefully put the flower back on its pile, and then chewed up the roots in to another poultice, which he smeared over Springstar's broken leg. He leaned back to survey his work proudly. "That's the best I can do for you," he sighed, green eyes apologetic. He offered the proud she-cat a cluster of borage leaves, their wide, hairy green surfaces gleaming in the dull moonlight. "If your injuries start to hurt again, eat a couple of these," he advised kindly. He felt a surge of warmth and pride run through him. It was his first job on his own, ever! He wondered where the medicine cat was, and sighed. "Now, try to get some sleep," he mewed. "Although herbs can do their thing, sleep is really the best medicine." He nodded to the she-cat.

"Why thank you Mosspaw." Springstar gratefully lay upon the mossy nest. "Ravenpelt, look after the clan while I'm asleep alright?"

Ravenpelt, standing to stiff attention near the entrance to camp, inclined his head in a barely discernible nod before snapping his attention back to his endless patrol. Mosspaw smirked slightly at the wiry black tom's diligence before turning back to Springstar. "Call me if you need me, okay?" he mewed. "I'll be... right back..." He yawned luxuriously, displaying a fine set of pearly teeth that flashed ivory in the moonlight. He smiled wearily, and then without another word, slunk tiredly into the den linked to this one. Within moments, the sound of heavy, restful breathing was audible.

Swiftwind came back into camp and tossed his catch onto the pile. He heard hushed voices from the medicine den and he pushed his way through the leafy curtain. "Hello," he whispered. He spotted his leader and dipped his head. He trotted over to her and sniffed her brown paw tenderly. "What'd you do, Springstar?" he asked, looking at her incredulously. He looked into her beautiful golden eyes and realized how wonderful they were....

"Oh, uh, hi Swiftwind. I broke my paw." Springstar blushed. "I was attacked by some strange cats, that's all."

Swiftwind knew he had a crush on Springstar, but she was a leader, he didn't have a chance with her. "mmmm," he murmured sympathetically.
OOC-wait, is Mosspaw a med apprentice? Because I saw another post where he was training with Icestorm.

OOC: Yeah, I know. I should really delete that. xD We talked about it, and decided Mosspaw would be better off as a MC apprentice. We had gotten that far in the thread, though, and I just haven't gotten to deleting it. ^^ Sorry for the confusion!
Mosspaw yawned. More cats! He would never get any sleep. He padded out of his nest in time to here the she apprentice talking. He cast a curious look at Flutterpaw. "What are you talking about?" he asked, whiskers twitching. "I already tended to it. She should be as good as new in a week or so." He nodded, satisfied, although he was obviously tired. "Strange cats indeed," he muttered to himself under his breath.
